Govt to shorten process to obtain import-export permits

Jakarta (ANTARA News)</b> - The Indonesian government plans to shorten the process to obtain export-import permits from about 10-30 days to only 30 minutes as part of the implementation of the National Single Window (NSW) program, an economic affairs official said.

A spokesman of the Coordinating Ministry for Economy, Eddy Putra Irawady, said here Friday that based on data from the World Bank, the processing of export permit in Indonesia needed about 30 days while for import permit the time needed was about 10 days.

According to him, this was due to the fact that most of the processing work was done manually although all the office equipment had been computerized.

"The documents are integrated in a data base. But many of them are still in form of ministrial decrees, whereas we actually need detailed information, not decrees which should be included in the electronic system," he said.

He explained that the government intended to implement the new system of NSW at the end of 2006. "The agency which is most ready for it is Batam island`s port," he said.(*)

I've long advocated that Indonesia submit to colonial rule again, and, since the Dutch are no longer up to it, if they ever were, I nominate Singapore as the governing power.

i've been writing letters to Kompas for years demanding that the Dutch be bought back, but no-one takes me seriously.

I knew someone here once who formed the Restore Dutch Rule Party. There was him and me in it but no-one else. Neither of us could vote anyway.

Hahahaha! What a joke Ena, this made my day. Singapore has two things in common with Indonesia.....
1, Geographical location
2, Asian residents

And that's about as far as it goes.
On the topic of Colonial Rule, my little missus has stated on several occasions that she wished the English had been the colonial power. in her wise, wise words "What the holland ever done for me?" "I hear they wear clogs in bed anyway!"
