I am working on a very large project in Batam at the moment. Today on site they held a celebration and stopped the work for almost half a day while some goverment officials and others walked around and had a look. That is all good. The kicker is just this. The project is 4 months behind schedule and the sail away date for the unit has been changed many times. You would think that if a project was in this much trouble they would want to finish the work as fast as possible and get paid. Well i guess since the project is only 4 months behind schedule 1 more day wont hurt! This is also a good thing for the local workers who will get paid longer and be able to support their families. But for some subcontractors it is a night mare and cost impact from hell.
