Indonesia Ready for ‘Single Window’ Licensing

Indonesia is ready to support the realization of ASEAN's electronic export-import system called the ASEAN Single Window (ASW), scheduled to become operational in 2008, a senior official said on Tuesday (26/12/06), Antara reported.

"At the end of 2008, we will have no problem joining ASEAN's ASW system. We will conduct a soft launching of a National Single Window (NSW) system on December 29, 2006 in Batam," said Harmen Sembiring, director of export-import facilitation at the Directorate General of External Trade, said.

The NSW is an electronic export-import service system organized by the Trade Ministry, the Drug and Food Supervision Agency (BPOM) and the quarantine service as the overseeing agency.

"It will be a limited trial run but already covers most of the licensing procedures existing at the trade ministry and BPOM," said Director General for External Trade Diah Maulida.
